You never really know when you’re going to stumble onto something that now looks like a very special animal.

I still remember the first glimpse of this dark red boar blowing down the alley at Duncan. Willie K. and I were headed straight for the concession stand in search of that world-famous cobbler. After polishing off a bowl of ice cream and cobbler, we doubled back and started hunting for that pig. Eventually, I found him tucked away in the far back—alone in a pen. He immediately caught my attention with his massive bone, big blade, huge forearm, and raw power. What truly set him apart, though, was his bold skull, wide-set eyes, and big feet. It was one the most unique red boar pigs I had seen all summer and into the fall. Fortunately, we were able to secure him that day, but the true joy has been watching him develop into what he is today.

Beyond the elite phenotype, his genetic makeup is equally impressive. SMART MONEY is sired by the popular STANDING ON BUSINESS at PBG, a boar widely known for adding extra punch and power. Even more intriguing is the bottom side of the pedigree. His dam originated from our friends at Winter Livestock—an outfit with an exceptional understanding of pedigree integrity and intentional mating decisions. This boar reads stout from end to end. His blades open wide, his skull is bold and expressive, and he offers as much width, dimension, and body shape as you’ll find in a red boar anywhere. His proportions are outstanding—length, width, and height all in perfect balance. He carries BIG bone, clean joints, and is extremely flexible and correct at the hock, with a square upper pin and all the width through the stifle you could ever ask for.
