Sire: Family Affair
Dam: Sister (Hands Down)

Bred By: Savage Genetics LLC

Registration: 515773002.

This guy comes from one of the most anticipated litters we’d raised to date. His sire, Family Affair, was the boar we believed best offered the unique breeding pieces the year HH had a field day in the Hampshire ring in Louisville. Family Affair was bred for predictability, a direct son of HH Lion Share mated to a half-sister, Top Gun daughter (which intensifies Danger Zone). Not knowing exactly what we had at the time, we thought “Sister” 19-9 offered the goods of flexibility, extension, and build needed to produce something special with this mating (reference the genetic punch discovered with the 19 litter sows as described in depth on Smoke Signal).

Sometimes you need to swing for the fence to see what happens, so we did! Obviously, sometimes that works, and other times it doesn’t…. I’m not telling you this was a big, great litter. The litter was small: 4 boy pigs total! 2 throwaways, one really good off-belted barrow the McCormick crew campaigned, and this extreme creature we call, Twisted Affair. It was fun watching him grow and mature to fighting weight.

It’s easy for visitors to gravitate to Twisted Affair when he stands with such a sporty show ring look, offering extra features, skeletal spread, dimension, and hair. Yes, I said HAIR—he was shaggy growing up! Twisted Affair offers unique intangibles and a predictable genetic punch to make the Hampshire breed better. It’s not hard to see his extreme muscle shape, freaky extension up front, and structural integrity, but it’s hard to ignore his long square hip and near-flawless hind leg. That trait alone sets him apart from so many.

The first Twisted Affair pigs are hitting the ring, and it should be interesting to see what they accomplish. Just remember, when making breeding decisions, sometimes to make genetic progress, you’ve gotta do something a little different. Otherwise, be content with making the same pigs you have, if that’s working for you. We’re just providing you a chance here!
